Movie Review: 'Wanted' Print E-mail
Written by Terry Hunter - thunter@kgmb9.com

The new movie, "Wanted," is one of the many big budget action-adventure flicks Hollywood is putting out this summer.

I'm no fan of that kind of movie, but I actually enjoyed "Wanted." What makes "Wanted" better than your average gun crazy blockbuster is the visual flair of its director--a Russian by the name of Timur Bekmambetov, who's making his first film in English.

"The Rape of Europa" is an absorbing documentary about what happened to the great art works of Europe during World War II. The unfortunate title not withstanding, this is an intelligent and emotional movie chock full of interesting facts. Did you know, for example, that Hitler was a painter in his youth and that he was rejected when he applied to art school in Vienna?

Like most movie goers, I'm a fan of Pixar animations. (The only one I didn't enjoy was "Cars.") But "Wall-E" is exceptionally good. I would even go so far as to call it an absolute delight.

The film is a touching and endlessly inventive story of a lonely robotic trash compactor....the last functioning machine on planet earth, 700 years after all the humans have left.

Steve Carell and Ann Hathaway star in "Get Smart," an action--comedy based on the hit TV series from the 1960's. And to me, the movie is better than the TV show.
