Sunny Says: Check Your Pet's Obesity Print E-mail

This week our focus is on pet obesity. If it's not managed it can lead to diabetes or heart and liver disease. This tip comes from veterinarian Sharman Elison at the Haiku Pet Clinic. She says to find out if you're feeding your dog too much, dump the food into the bowl as usual. Then put it into a measuring cup and see how much you're really feeding your pet.

Just like Sunny every dog deserves a good home. That's the basic mission behind the Hawaii Dog Foundation. They depend on volunteers to take home dogs and become foster parents. They believe no healthy dog should ever be put to sleep and now they're raising money in hopes of building a no kill shelter. On this week's Sunny Says we feature one of the foster parents.

Calling all canine-lovers, Bark Avenue, Pacific Paws Doggie Resort & Spa and Hawaii Kai Veterinary Clinic, will host an all about dogs event on Saturday, July 5th at the Marina Courtyard from 11 am - 2pm. The event will be a fundraiser for the Hawaii Dog Foundation, to help reach their goal of "No More Homeless Dogs in Hawaii". Volunteers will bring adoptable dogs to a special "Meet & Greet" area where you can find that perfect pet for your family.

At Clear Channel Communications, they decided to bring their pets to the office. It's an effort to remind folks how important pets are to some of us and that there are thousands who still need a good home.
