Alyson Helwagen launched the daily email magazine and website LeiChic.com in December 2007. Every weekday, Lei Chic's daily article unearths one of Hawaii's undiscovered fashion, shopping, dining and beauty finds that are especially relevant to local women.

Alyson previously worked in public relations at Communications Pacific and at Bennet Group Strategic Communications, where she oversaw clients such as Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, Ala Moana Center, Kapalua Resort and Prudential Locations.

As a journalist, Alyson has worked as the travel editor of the Columbus Dispatch, a top-25 metro daily newspaper, and as freelancer, writing for publications such as The Denver Post and Shape Magazine, and for corporate clients including Victoria's Secret. Previously, Alyson was the editor-in-chief of Ohio Magazine, where she oversaw both the monthly magazine and the custom publishing operation, producing magazines for the National Hockey League and numerous travel and tourism companies and agencies.

Alyson graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University and now lives in Kailua with her husband.
