As fate has it, Greg McMackin is back on UH's staff.
In the seven years he's been gone, McMackin's walked the sidelines at Texas Tech and made a coaching stop with the San Francisco 49ers.
But McMackin feels most at home with the Warriors.
Afterall he's the man who June Jones originally hired to lead Hawaii's defense. |

He came to Hawaii to be a receiver. His 4.4 speed, shifty footwork and sure hands made him a perfect fit.
But the Warriors needed him on defense and CJ Hawthorne couldn't say no, filling in for the good of the team.
Now he's back at his natural spot, catching on and catching touchdowns in June Jones offense.
He's Hawaii's newest offensive threat. |

When you hear how Jacob Patek ended up at UH, you can't help but think it was destiny.
Sure, he had dreams of playing college football, but Hawaii wasn't really on his map for division one destinations.
In fact the defensive back was pretty much signed, sealed and delivered somewhere else.
But he believes that was all just part of a journey that was intended for him all along. |
