Inside, it looks about the same as any other interisland jet in the fleet but we're told these planes are more fuel efficient and the cloth seats have a little extra leg room. The plane fits up to 123 passengers with five seats in a row. Hawaiian's president and CEO unveiled the jet Wednesday with a traditional Maile Lei. "The reason why we are doing this is because we want to provide more flights and seats to the customer based in the islands," said Mark Dunkerly, CEO of Hawaiian Airlines. By the end of the year Hawaiian will have added 110 interisland roundtrip flights per week, mostly in the morning and afternoon peak-travel hours. There will be 40 roundtrip flights a week to Lihue, Kauai. 27 roundtrips to Kahului, Maui and over on the Big Island, 25 to Kona and 18 to Hilo. |
