The stream flows through Waipahu into the Pouhala Marsh, the largest wetland in the Pearl Harbor area. "We're here to protect and conserve our water bodies here. We have not only a water body that functions as a natural sponge and filter. It's also essential to waterlife, like the Hawaiian Stilt. "We've seen the difference we've made in the last four years, and it's pretty rewarding," Capt. Jan Tighe said. Volunteers from the Navy, police, city employees and many more dug in as part of the fifth annual Waipahu "Make a Difference Day" and "Adopt a Stream" clean-up. |
