This year, Fire Prevention Week is October 5-11, 2008. Each year, the Honolulu Fire Department joins the National Fire Protection Association and other safety advocates to promote a fire safety and prevention theme. This year's theme is, "It's Fire Prevention Week: Prevent Home Fires!" Every half-hour, someone is injured in a home fire. That's according to the U.S. Fire Administration. So a little warning time and planning can be your best tools in saving lives in a fire. As part of national Fire Prevention Week we'll have a tip a day on how you can stay safe. Today's tip: make sure your home is properly equipped.
Install Smoke Detectors
Keep Fire Extinguishers Handy
