A mainland company is hoping to fill the void left by the bankruptcy of Aloha Airlines. Republic Airways Holdings is reportedly exploring plans to enter the interisland market in partnership with a small local carrier. According to an Oct. 1 memo, the Indianapolis-based company said it would use 70-seat jets under a code-share agreement. The subsidiary would operate the flights under the brand of Big Island commuter carrier Mokulele Airlines. Hawaiian and go! Airlines have been dominating the interisland skies after Aloha Airline's shutdown back in March. |
