"It's just me mowing the grass and taking care of the kalo, trying to bridge this idea between arts and agriculture." "Living Pono" is a delicate film about Jason Scott Lee's need to connect with something larger than Hollywood, larger than himself. "I took the time to develop the farm first, develop the fields, and then create the actual space. Because I always found that working with the land, working with agriculture, growing our own food, was the foundation. Then arts became bonus." Jason often has friends visit Pu Mu and he likes to share his lifestyle with them. "They can have this understanding of what it takes to have a strong back to be able to do field work. But also be artistic, because I think that's the key to diversity." For Jason, his life revolves around being a true steward of the land. You can catch "Living Pono" at the Hawaii International FIlm Festival on Sunday. |
