Earlier this week Schneider and the only other Royal Gardens resident, Jack Thompson, watched as lava crept closer and closer. "He stayed up there for three days," Thompson told KGMB9. "He wanted to get it on his video camera. But it just went down one side of him and then went down the other side of him and was above him. He put out a little offering with some tea leaves and gin," Thompson added. The offering to Pele didn't stop the inevitable. Schneider's home was leveled leaving Thompson's home as the only occupied structure in Royal Gardens. Thompson operates a bed and breakfast at his home. He calls it Lava House. For information about Lava House, contact Thompson at (808) 756-4270. |
