New Sub-Zero Refrigeration Technology Print E-mail

Sub-Zero, the nation’s leader in premium refrigeration and wine storage, has launched a redesigned, built-in refrigeration series that uses groundbreaking technology to prolong the freshness of stored foods, while delivering innovative new features.

"The new built-in line is being introduced to Hawaii at a time when a growing number of consumers are eating locally-grown foods and living more active and healthy lifestyles," said Kurt Hargens, Sub-Zero/Wolf Vice-President of Sales. "The newly designed series is proven to preserve the freshness of foods longer, introducing state-of-the-art technology and design capabilities that redefine refrigeration today," he added.

The dual-compressor operating system separately controls the temperature and humidity of the refrigerator and freezer compartments, holding preset temperatures within a plus-or-minus one-degree, which ensures the highest air quality. This results in fresh food and energy efficiency, which is the backbone of the new built-ins’ freshness preservation system.

Because air quality has a huge impact on food freshness, the new built-in series incorporates a new process to purify the air. The entire volume of air in the refrigerator is cleaned every 20 minutes. This NASA technology air purification system eliminates odors, viruses and bacteria, as well as ethylene gas that increases food spoilage. In addition, Sub-Zero/Wolf is the first and only built-in manufacturer to incorporate a microbiological water filter that reduces any contaminant in household water while preserving the fresh taste of clean water and ice.

The updated interior of the new built-in line includes brighter lighting; crisper drawers with an improved glide system for easy, full extension; a user-friendly digital control panel; and adjustable door shelves great for maximizing storage. Different exterior design options are available for all models.

Since 1993, Sub-Zero has had a local distributor and full servicing facility in Hawaii. Distribution and service of the Wolf line was added in 1999. Sub-Zero/Wolf has 16 authorized dealers and 20 authorized service agencies on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. The 3,400-square-foot Sub-Zero/Wolf showroom, located on the corner of Piikoi and King streets, has the full product lines on display.
