The Nutcracker Skaters who train and enjoy sport will take part in a contemporary version of the Nutcracker Wednesday and Thursday night. During intermission, 13-year-old Crystal Nguyen, who just became Central Pacific Intermediate Ladies Champion, will perform the routine she'll skate during the upcoming Junior Nationals at Lake Placid, New York, December 8 -13.
WEB EXTRA: Watch part of her performance Crystal Nguyen placed first in the Intermediate Ladies Division at the 2009 US Figure Skating Central Pacific Regional Championships that took place October 2-5 in San Jose, California. This earns her a chance to compete in the US Figure Skating Junior National Championships. This is the first time any Hawaii skater has qualified for the U.S. Figure Skating Junior National Championships in the Ladies Singles event. U.S. Figure Skating is the governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States and is so recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee. Crystal started skating at the age of six. She skates at the Ice Palace in Honolulu and represents the Hawaii Figure Skating Club. She's also an Honor studen at Cathedral Catholic Academy. She is the daughter of Ha Tran and Dung Nguyen.
