On the Big Island, new developments in the latest Kilauea eruption. Lava flowing from a new vent on Kilauea's eastern flank is now feeding into a lava tube that could allow it to flow farther and faster. Geologists said the formation of lava tubes can be worrisome because they insulate the lava making it hard to study. Also, on Friday the slow moving lava or a'a flowing from the Puuoo vent of Kilauea Volcano turned into the faster moving pahoehoe form. Experts said there's no immediate threat, and for now the lava remains 10 miles away from the closest community. That's good news for thousands in Puna.
