Punahou Marching Band Preps for Inauguration Print E-mail

We're just over two weeks away from President-Elect Barack Obama's inauguration. And the Punahou School Marching Band is getting ready for the big day.

The 125 member band will march down Pennsylvania Avenue after the swearing-in ceremony. They'll be joined by 17 junior ROTC marching unit and six varsity cheerleaders.

The opportunity is a special one because Mr. Obama graduated from Punahou School in 1979.

"I'm just really thankful that we have the opportunity to represent our school, but more importantly, the state of Hawaii and we're going to do the best that we can with it," Brent Nagamine said.

"I think for our students, it's an amazing opportunity for our students to think about what they could become in the future," Darin Au said.

The band will perform the songs "Aloha Oe," "Men of Punahou" and "Brahms Symphony Number One."
