It includes the Honolulu Fire Department which has always been against fireworks for personal use, also the Humane Society and other community groups. The coalition's goal is to figure out how best to proceed to change the fireworks law since enforcement is not working. "The key thing is preventing injury and property damage so we feel the only way we can do it because everyone is saying enforce enforce enforce and it's been very difficult for the Honolulu Police and Fire Department, all of us to do any type of enforcement efforts," Honolulu Police Chief Boisse Correa said. Fireworks for professional shows would still be okay. |
