Writers' Strike, 'The Bucket List' and 'Star Trek' Print E-mail

Hot scoop on the writers' strike: a member of the board says if the strike isn't settled in the next couple of weeks, the consensus is it could go into spring and maybe summer. Many people in LA are affected by the strike, not just the actors and writers. They include grips, caterers, gaffers, limousine drivers, set designers, make up artists, directors, producers, editors and extras. Almost one million people are making less money in LA than they were a month ago.

Movie news: "The Bucket List" is a great movie with 3.5 stars. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman travel the world from the Great Wall of China to Europe. But this entire film was shot in the Warner Brother's back lot in Burbank with help from technology and a green screen. You wouldn't know it from watching the movie.

See No Country for Old Men. A sequel is now in the works.

William Shatner was not invited to be a part of the Star Trek movie, but Leonard Nimoy was invited. They started shooting yesterday. When Shatner was asked what he thought about the new movie, Shatner replied, "I hope that movie bombs."
