A small eruption that took place Thanksgiving Day has created several small new flows and several lava ponds. These are pictures from the U.S. Geological Survey late last week. Since the episode began in July, lava has been flowing in the southeast direction first in the slow moving a'a variety. Then in October the lava took on the fast, more liquid form called Pahoehoe. The flows have been moving towards the Royal Gardens subdivision but scientists said the two people known to live there are not in danger. |
