Now, more than $4 million will go to make changes at the Diamond Head Trail. 

Four-point-four million dollars will go to stabilize hillsides near the trail improve sections that are deteriorating, install safer and wider walkways, create a loop trail connecting the lookout at the summit, and the rest stop near the top of the tunnel.

The state will start designing these projects next April.

Construction is slated to be finished by Feb. 2010.
