This is the haul officers took. Investigators said some of the explosives were mis-labeled to make them look legal. The stash is worth an estimated $100,000. Police arrested Rodney Ballesteros, 24, and said not only should New Years Eve be safer but the raid removed a huge potential danger to the Palolo community. Most of the aerials were in a storage room but more than 700 pounds were found in a bedroom used by the family. "This is beyond that single house. If this had ignited, it would have been truly a catastrophic event so this is truly putting our communities at risk and we need the community to come and report these," said Honolulu Police Department Maj. Kurt Kendro. Ballesteros was released pending investigation. He could face federal charges. HPD's bomb detail is storing the illegal aerials now as evidence. |
