We will have information updated throughout the day. June Jones has decided to leave UH and accept the head coaching job at SMU. UH's all-time winningest coach accepted the job early Monday morning after mulling over the last offer from the University of Hawaii Sunday night. KGMB9 has learned there will be a press conference held at 11 a.m. Hawaii time in Dallas. We will bring you that press conference live on KGMB9 and bring you full updates on our newscasts at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. The University of Hawaii football coach met with officials at Southern Methodist University in Dallas Sunday. They want June Jones and are willing to pay millions to get him, but sources now tell KGMB9 the deal may not happen. Just a short time ago the University of Hawaii said it was still negotiating with Hawaii's winningest football coach. Despite reports that June Jones has resigned as KGMB9 told you here Saturday night, Jones has not submitted a letter of resignation to the University of Hawaii. Jones did meet with SMU officials Saturday afternoon. Since then, Jones has told KGMB9 sources that he is on the fence about whether or not to go to SMU and is waiting to hear what the University of Hawaii has to offer. KGMB9 has also been told that the University is still in negotiations with coach Jones to bring him back next year. What is known is that June Jones has not accepted a job with SMU and is still under contract with the University of Hawaii. Related Stories: Warrior Fans Organize Rally for Monday |
