The cost to compete is currently $25 for general public, and $20 for Active Duty. You can register online or at the event. Participation is limited though. People can also make direct donations on behalf of the event to help families of 3rd Marines by contancting the Armed Services YMCA at (808) 473-3398. When you donate, say you're donating towards the 3rd Marines Bodysurfing Competion. Checks can also be mailed to ASYMCA, 1057 N. Road, Honolulu, HI 96818.

More than 150 participants are expected to compete in the waves. Competitors will be judged on Wave Height, Wave Length, Maneuvers, Tube Time, 10 Waves Max and Scoring on the top 3 waves. Divisions include: Men- 18 & Under, 19-25, 26-34, 35-49, 50+ and Women- Open. Prizes will be awarded to the top 6 competitors in each division.

Viewers are also welcome to enjoy the event. All non-military guests and participants will need to register their vehicles at the Main Gate of MCBH in Kaneohe to get on base. You'll need to show current registration, safety check, insurance and valid drivers license.

Dino Leonard, a water safety official with MCBH, says they're hoping for optimal conditions with some Kona winds. Leonard stresses that should conditions be too rough to proceed with the contest, the day could be moved, and participants will be notified and information posted on the website.
