"I just want him to rot," said Nancy Asiata Chanco. "He's a sick person. A sick person. He knew what he was doing. He kidnapped my baby. It's murder. And he threw him off the [expletive] bridge." Chanco is struggling to understand why her young son Cyrus Belt was thrown from a freeway bridge Thursday. Police haven't said how Matthew Higa allegedly got a hold of the 23-month-old boy. But Chanco tells the Honolulu Advertiser she left the baby with her father in the apartment while she ran errands. The boy's grandfather, Lilo Asiata, 62, admits he was sleeping at his Makiki home when Cyrus disappeared. But he said his daughter and her boyfriend were supposed to wake him up before they went out. "This boy was my whole life. I think I baby-sat him more than his mother. He was that close to me, I sleep with him. Same room," he said. Earlier Thursday, before the child was killed on the H-1 Freeway, police saw him wandering the street alone and officers brought him home. Cyrus' mother believes Higa, who lives a floor above the family, then broke into the apartment and took him. "He forcibly entered my house without permission," she exclaimed. "Maybe Cyrus, the most Cyrus could have done was open the wooden door, but not the screen door...so maybe he got him then," she sobbed," when my dad was sleeping."
