Students from the John A. Burns School of Medicine got to meet their new little brother or sister from Nanakuli Intermediate School. It's a partnership that will mentor kids interested in the medical field. Volunteers said they are happy to set an example for the kids and show them that they can do anything they put their minds to. "The kids know that they can be whatever they want to be and this is just one opportunity to check out possible careers," said big sister mentor Natalie Kong. The "bigs" and "littles" will meet up once a month for the duration of the school year. The goal of the program is to build confidence, competence and caring in children. |
