"What I had heard was he followed them back to the dorm and just sat around outside their door, just kind of chilling with his bike," said Kelly. The two women said they took the bus to campus from Ala Moana Shopping Center Saturday night but were followed onto the bus and then to the dorm. The man, believed to be in his 40's or 50's, refused to leave them. The school said he only left when a third roommate showed up a few minutes later. Flyers were posted alerting students of the incident. A man's picture has also been posted along with the alert. That's because school officials said the man is part of an ongoing investigation for an incident that happened a few years back. That time, school officials said he followed several students, who were also Japanese, back to their dorm. UH student Anna Copp knows what that's like, since a similar incident happened to her last semester. She said it's not the same guy but it's sure to be the same scary feeling. "I've been followed home from the library one evening," she recalled. "He followed me all way from the library to the housing area but I made sure not to bring him directly to the apartment." The man is described to be about 5 feet 10, weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing green hospital scrubs with a cream-colored visor and light blue slippers. He was also riding a red or black bicycle. School officials believe he is homeless. If you have any information, you're asked to campus security at 956-6911 or police. |
