A lava flow has become active at the northern side of the Royal Gardens subdivision on the Big Island. On Wednesday, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said a slow-moving pahoehoe flow entered the upper reaches of the subdivision. But Civil Defense said no homes are in danger, and there is no evacuation orders in place. The subdivision has largely been vacant for years. It is off limits right now to anyone but residents. HVO and Big Island firefighters flew over the area and found no other major changes to the lava's path. |
