If you are a student looking for a summer job, the county of Kauai is looking for you.
On Thursday, applications for the 2008 Summer Employment Program became available.

It's aimed at high school and college students 16 years and older.

Applicants can gain internships in various county departments, including positions as recreation and golf course aides, beach and pool lifeguards. The intern program lasts for seven weeks from June 16 to July 31.

The Summer Enrichment Program runs for 5 1/2 weeks from June 12 to July 21.

The beach and pool lifeguard program is scheduled to start the first week in June, and end in August.

All applicants are required to pass a drug-screening test and complete a fingerprinting and criminal history record check.

Qualified adults can also apply for supervisory positions as program coordinators for the Summer Enrichment Program.
