How you can get the HD signal free:

All you need to receive High Definition programming from KGMB9 is an ATSC digital receiver. Your HD Television might even have one built in! In 2004, the FCC began requiring all High Definition sets 36" and larger include an ATSC digital receiver built in. You can also buy a set-top-box digital receiver anywhere that sells HD television sets. The ATSC receiver requires that an antenna be connected. In most cases, a basic "Rabbit Ear" type antenna will do the trick.

Just like analog broadcast television, not all areas are able to receive over-the-air broadcast signals. The further away from the station's transmitter you are, the less likely you are to receive the signal. If you can receive the High Definition signal, you will have the best picture possible! Is High Definition programming available on the Neighbor Islands?

HD programming is available through DirectTV on all islands and over-the-air in Greater Honolulu*. HD is not yet available over-the-air on the Neighbor Islands; however, there are plans for over-the-air High-Definition television to reach the neighboring islands in the future.
