Kauai County just gained four new buses.

The additional vehicles are now servicing the westside and north mainline routes. Those have the highest ridership numbers.

The new buses can carry 25 passengers and bicycles. It also features retractable tie-downs. Those should cut the time needed to tie down wheelchairs and mopeds in half.

A federal grant paid 80% of the cost, the county paid the rest. Kauai county now has 45 buses in operation.
