On Sunday, volunteers set up a special demonstration to bring more awareness to the issue. More than 20 people planted about 5,000 pinwheels on the grounds of McKinley High School. The pinwheels represent the number of calls made by parents, caregivers and professionals to Parent Line, a parenting support service. "Well the pinwheels are. We say the winds of change, in other words, pinwheels are spinning, wind of change, we can change how we are with our kids, we can change how the public deals with child abuse," said Aileen Deese of Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii. This is the second annual "Pinwheel of Change." It took volunteers about an hour to place all the pinwheels. The display will go on till April 14. |
