The volcanic emissions of sulfur dioxide fumes from Halema'uma'u and Pu'u 'O'o continues with no change. The National Weather Service forecast of south easterly winds of yesterday remains for today and that normal trades will not likely return until sometime tomorrow. Due to the volcanic emissions and the weather forecast the following are in effect:
All residents of Hawai'i Island but especially areas close to and downwind of Kilauea are advised to continue being on the alert and prepared. If your area is informed of high sulfur dioxide levels remember the safest protection against high sulfur dioxide is to limit your exposure. The sulfur dioxide levels will continue to be monitored and if any area levels reach high levels you will be informed. At this time the only district in color code YELLOW are areas of Ka'u (Pahala). All other districts are code GREEN. Remember sulfur dioxide levels do not necessarily coincide with vog levels. |
