Oahu Lane Closures
For the week of Saturday, May 10, to Friday, May 16.
PLEASE NOTE: Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather-permitting.
H-1 FREEWAY
1) H-1 AIRPORT VIADUCT WESTBOUND THREE-LANE CLOSURE ON SUNDAY (Weekend Work)
Three rightmost lanes of the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct will be closed in the westbound direction from the Airport on-ramp to the Kamehameha Highway/Aloha Stadium/Arizona Memorial off-ramp (Exit 15A) on Sunday, May 11, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., for concrete pavement repair work. All on-and-off-ramps will remain open during this time.
To avoid delays, westbound motorists are advised to use alternate routes including the H-201 Moanalua Freeway or Nimitz Highway underneath the H-1 Airport Viaduct.
2) H-1 EASTBOUND PUNCHBOWL STREET OFF-RAMP CLOSURE MONDAY NIGHT (Night Work)
H-1 Freeway eastbound Punchbowl Street off-ramp (Exit 21B) will be closed on Monday night, May 12, from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., for guardrail repairs.
Eastbound H-1 motorists are advised to use the preceding Pali Highway off-ramp (Exit 21A), turn right onto Pali Highway and left onto South Vineyard Boulevard, as an alternate route to the Punchbowl Street area.
3) H-1 AIRPORT VIADUCT EASTBOUND THREE-LANE CLOSURE (Night Work)
Three-lane closures on the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct in the Honolulu-bound direction from west of the Airport on-ramp to the Middle Street Tunnel on Monday night, May 12, through Thursday morning, May 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly, for concrete pavement repair work.
All on-and-off-ramps will remain open during this time. Single lane closures may also be implemented on Nimitz Highway below the viaduct during these hours as a safety precaution.
4) H-1 EASTBOUND FROM KAPOLEI TO WAIPAHU (Night Work)
Multiple lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction from the Palailai Interchange in Kapolei to the H-1/H-2 Merge in Waipahu on Monday night, May 12, through Friday morning, May 16, from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly, for lane striping and pavement marking installations.
H-2 FREEWAY
1) NORTHBOUND MILILANI MAUKA OFF-RAMP 24-HOUR WEEKEND CLOSURE (Weekend Work)
H-2 Freeway northbound Mililani Mauka off-ramp (Exit 5A) will be closed 24-hours a day from 7:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, through 4:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, for pavement resurfacing.
Mililani Mauka-bound motorists are advised to proceed along the H-2 Freeway to the following Mililani Town off-ramp (Exit 5B), turn right onto Meheula Parkway, and make a U-turn at the Kuahelani Avenue intersection or to use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway.
Additional police officers will be on-site at the Kuahelani Avenue intersection directing traffic to minimize congestion in the area. Electronic traffic messageboards are also posted in the area to notify motorists of the closure.
2) HONOLULU-BOUND MEHEULA PARKWAY ON-RAMP CLOSURE
H-2 Freeway Honolulu-bound on-ramp from Mililani Town on Meheula Parkway will be closed on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for pavement resurfacing.
Honolulu-bound motorists are advised to use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway or to proceed along Meheula Parkway, U-turn at the Ainamakua Drive intersection and use the H-2 Freeway Honolulu-bound loop on-ramp from the Makai-bound lanes.
During these hours, the Meheula Parkway sidewalk on the Mauka-bound side will also be closed from Kuahelani Avenue to the bus stop at 1618 Meheula Parkway. Mauka-bound pedestrians are advised to cross Meheula Parkway at the Kuahelani Avenue intersection and use the opposite sidewalk.
H-201 MOANALUA FREEWAY
1) ON-RAMP, RIGHT LANE CLOSURE ON FRIDAY NIGHT (Weekend Night Work)
Right lane closure on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the eastbound direction from the Aiea Access Road overpass to the H-1 East off-ramp (Exit 1A) from 9:00 p.m. on Friday night, May 9, through 5:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, May 10, for lane striping and overhead signage repairs.
During these hours, the H-201 Freeway eastbound on-ramp from Kamehameha Highway near Aloha Stadium will also be closed.
FARRINGTON HIGHWAY
1) KAPOLEI TO MAKAHA (Weekend Work)
Single lane closures on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction from the Kahe Point Beach Park to Kili Drive on Saturday, May 10, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for street lighting repair work.
2) MAKAHA
Single lane closures on Farrington Highway in both direction from Orange Street to Kili Drive on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for pavement resurfacing.
KAHEKILI HIGHWAY
1) KANEOHE
Left lane closures between Kulukeoe Street and Haiku Road in both directions on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for the removal of existing drainage systems and water line adjustments.
KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY
1) NEAR CASTLE JUNCTION
Right-lane closure in the Kailua-bound direction between Castle Junction and Kapaa Quarry Road on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily, for erosion control work.
Work and lane closures are scheduled at this site on weekdays through May 2008. Project contractor Prometheus Construction will be anchoring mesh safety netting to the adjacent hillside to stabilize the slope.
KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY
1) NEAR HICKAM AFB
Single lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in the eastbound direction from Center Drive to Valkenburgh Street on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily, for lane striping and lane marker installations.
2) MILILANI TO WHEELER AAF
Northbound traffic on Kamehameha Highway will be contraflowed using the southbound lanes between Waikalani Drive and Lehua Road on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from to 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily. Single lane closures are also scheduled at the following locations:
- Northbound from Waihau Street to Santos Dumont Avenue.
- Southbound from Santos Dumont Avenue to Lehua Street.
Portable concrete barriers will be closing these lane segments for shoulder widening and curb construction.
LIKELIKE HIGHWAY
1) UPPER KALIHI AREA
Right lane closures on Likelike Highway in the Honolulu-bound direction from the Wilson Tunnel to Valley View Drive on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for guardrail repairs and tree trimming.
ALA MOANA BOULEVARD
1) DOWNTOWN TO ALA MOANA (Night Work)
Multiple lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard, in the westbound direction from Piikoi Street to Ward Avenue from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly, for pavement resurfacing.
Westbound traffic will be contraflowed past the work area in one eastbound lane. Eastbound traffic will also be merged into one lane.
To avoid delays, motorists are advised to use Queen Street or South King Street as alternate routes.
2) ALA MOANA TO WAIKIKI
Single lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions between Kalakaua Avenue and Kalia Road on Monday, April 12, through Saturday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for the installation of electrical duct lights and the construction of new concrete driveways, sidewalks, curbs and gutters.
This improvements project will include the reconstruction and resurfacing of pavement areas, the addition of a fourth eastbound lane from Hobron Lane to Kalia Road, the lengthening of left-turn stacking lanes onto Hobron Lane and Kalia Road, center median landscaping enhancements designed in consultation with the Outdoor Circle, replacement of highway lighting with decorative lighting similar to Kalakaua Avenue, and the reconstruction of portions of pedestrian sidewalks and driveways.
These road improvements will be paid for by the Hilton Hotels Corporation as part of a larger development surrounding the construction of The Grand Waikikian Tower, adjacent to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. Hilton has also established a construction information hotline at 948-7600 and an informational website at www.villagerejuvenation.com. Project completion is anticipated in December 2008.
FORT BARRETTE ROAD
1) KAPOLEI
Single lane closures on Fort Barrette Road in both directions between Kamaaha Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for guardrail repairs.
FORT WEAVER ROAD
1) EWA (Weekend Work)
Roving single lane closures on Fort Weaver Road in the northbound direction from North Road to Farrington Highway on Saturday, May 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for pothole repairs.
2) EWA
Single lane closures on Fort Weaver Road in both directions on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, at the following locations and times:
- Southbound Direction (from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., daily)
Left lane closure between Laulaunui Street and Old Fort Weaver Road for trenching work for the installation of electrical conduits.
- Northbound Direction (from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., daily)
Single lane closures from Aawa Drive to beyond the Honouliuli Stream Bridge for trenching and drainage line installations.
In addition, traffic on Old Fort Weaver Road will be contraflowed in a single lane near the Fort Weaver Road intersection on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., daily, for waterline installation work.
3) LAULAUNUI STREET INTERSECTION
Single lane closures on Fort Weaver Road at the Laulaunui Street intersection on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for guardrail repairs.
4) ROVING POTHOLE REPAIRS
Roving single lane closures on Fort Weaver Road in the northbound direction from North Road to Farrington Highway on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., daily, for pothole repairs.
PUULOA ROAD
1) MAPUNAPUNA
Various lane closures on Puuloa Road between Kamehameha Highway and Salt Lake Boulevard on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, at the following locations:
- Shoulder lanes in both directions closed. Roadside parking will not be permitted.
- Lane modification on Mokumoa Street between Puuloa Road and Mapunapuna Street for drainage work. No large vehicles are allowed through this area. One lane of travel in each direction is available for cars.
In addition, there will be a 24-hour closure of Mokumoa Street on Sunday, May 11, through Saturday, May 17, between Puuloa Road and Mapunapuna Street for drainage system installations. Local traffic only will be allowed access via Mapunapuna Street.
HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
1) INTERISLAND TERMINAL PARKING STRUCTURE
Lane closures at the Honolulu International Airport for the construction of a vehicular and pedestrian bridge connecting the new 1,800-stall parking structure to the existing Interisland Terminal Parking Structure at the following locations and times:
- Ground level access into the Interisland Terminal Parking Structure will be closed 24/7 from Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16. Access into the Interisland Terminal Parking Structure will be detoured through the second level makai parking entry. Access from the ground floor parking entry into the Overseas Terminal Parking Structure will continue to be maintained at all times.
- Second level mauka entry into the Interisland Terminal Parking Structure will be closed on Monday night, May 12, through Friday morning, May 16, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly. Access into the Interisland Terminal Parking Structure will be detoured to the second level makai parking entry. Closure of this entry point will continue weekly, Monday through Friday, through Friday, May 100.
- Second level roadway to the Overseas Terminal Bypass Road will be closed on Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly. Access to the Overseas Terminal will be detoured through the roadway fronting the Interisland Terminal. Closure of this area will continue weekly, Monday through Friday, through Friday, May 100.
Motorists are also encouraged to utilize the economy parking lot located at the corner of Aolele Street and Lagoon Drive. The completion of the new parking structure is slated for December 2008. |
