John Palmer Parker, the founder of the Parker Ranch, was inducted this week into the Hall of Great Westerners in Oklahoma. It's one of the halls of fame at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Parker is the first from hawaii ever to be inducted. Parker Ranch was founded in 1847 and spreads over 150,000 acres. "It's surprising to people up here that not only do we have the fifth largest ranch in Hawai`i but its also in the middle of the Pacific," Parker Ranch President and C.E.O. Chris Kanazawa said. A group of people, including Parker's grandson, traveled to Oklahoma to accept the honor. |
