It's been three years since his arrest and he's been on the run ever since. Police say Lawton Ah Kee broke into a car while a child was inside to steal a purse.

September 10, 2004, it's around 4:30 in the afternoon at Aiea pre-school where parents are picking up there kids. Honolulu police say 47-year-old Lawton Ah Kee was nearby watching when one woman drove up to pick up her daughter. The woman's 9-year-old son wanted to stay in the car.

"He doesn't want to get out… Tired. So she says ok, she'll be right back. Runs to the preschool, gone about 5 minutes. When she returns, she discovered that her driver's side window had been pushed in."

"The little boy, in the car, he's traumatized. A male had approached the car, pushed in the window, shattered it. Luckily it was held together with the tint, so it wasn't glass everywhere, but still damage. Reached in and grabbed a purse that was on the floor board, of the driver's side of the car."

Police say they recovered Kee's fingerprints from the car and arrested him for theft, but after Kee posted bail, they say he never showed up for court.

Kee's wanted on a 15-thousand dollar felony contempt warrant. He more than two dozen arrests and seven felony convictions including terroristic threatening, cruelty to animals and theft from auto.

Kee is described as five-foot eleven, weighing about 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He may or may not still have a beard.

"She did the right thing, she locked the car, she didn't leave it running. She left it secured."

"I don't think he even knew there was someone in there, as far as a child, because he was in the back seat."

"He probably if anything more or less watched that she got out of the car without a purse, and knew it was in the car, and this was an opportunity for him."

Kee is known to frequent the Leeward and Waianae areas. Helping police find him could put up to a thousand bucks in your pocket.

Lawson Ah Kee is our fugitive on the run, this Wanted Wednesday.
