Inventors and distributors are hitting the Neal Blaisdell Center this weekend to wow you with some of the newest products on the market. The 33rd Annual Spring New Products Show kicks off Friday. KGMB9's Ramsay Wharton is live from the KGMB9 news parking lot with some special guests.
This year's edition of the 33rd Annual Spring New Products Show will be getting a new look and approach with more locally made products and gadgets along with great shopping bargains. The show remains Hawaii's most popular and exciting Expo event. This is a chance for the community to “Back Mac and Get Into the Game”, supporting UH’s 2008 Season. Plus live performances with the new KRUSH, cast from the exciting STARS IN CONCERTS at the Sheraton Princess Ka’iulani Hotel in the Ainahau Showroom featuring Michael Jackson (William Ball), Madonna (Kimberly Goldy) Elvis (Jonathan Von Brana), Tina Turner & Whitney Houston (Denita Asberry) and Little Richard (Garry Moore), and 2007 Hoku Award and the Hawaii Music Award for the Best Hip Hop recording artist of the year, Afatia Thompson. For plant enthusiasts, there will be beautiful arrays of Orchid and Plant displays throughout the exhibition hall including a few international species brought in by a grower from Thailand. The Department of Agriculture’s Hawai'i Plant Quarantine will feature displays on their inspection program and everyone's role in the protection of Hawai'i's agriculture, environment, natural resources, and public health against invasive species, including some snakes, spiders, lizard/geckos, and other non-domestic animals….quite an interesting exhibit. USDA's Honolulu Plant Inspection Station will provide a K9 corp demonstration, the Plant Doctor and certification of plant material to the Mainland for plants purchased at the show. The public is encouraged to bring in samples of the soil from their yards or sick plants to be assessed by the “Plant Doctor”, Dr. Matthew Goo. He will be there throughout the weekend to help consumers in determining solutions to get the best results for your beautiful garden or yard. Dr. Goo’s credentials include Undergrad Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Hawaii (UH) College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) Horticulture Science; Masters of Science from UH CTAHR Plant Pathology with an emphasis in Plant Nematology; Worked at Brewer Environmental Industries for 2 years as Technical In-House Customer Service Representative Island style furniture store, ABC Design Center will be giving away $100,000 Extreme Home Interior Makeover. This exciting package will include furniture, flooring, kitchen and bathroom makeover, kitchen appliances, window treatments, covering and more for one lucky family. Organizers say there is something for everyone. Beauty and wellness products like Nail Art Kits, the Kangen Water System, which promotes healing from the inside out, by giving you a natural face lift with healthy water; expandable mini tissues along with “The Drops” and Noah’s Ark allows kids to select and stuff their own cuddly friends and many other surprises. Taste of the Pacific will feature a melting pot of dishes and confections, including the best in local favorites from Tanioka’s, the Wedding Café, O Lounge Gourmet Kitchen, No Ka Oi Crepes; Marian’s Catering; Kaka’ako Kitchen; Family Foods and more. The City’s will also unveil it's new blue Hi5 recycling bins which allow local schools to raise funds through community support.
