Dozens of union workers rallied in Waikiki Tuesday urging people to boycott the Pacific Beach Hotel. ILWU Local 142 said 32 employees lost their jobs at the hotel after workers tried to form a union. They accuse the hotel, owned by HTH corporation, of violating federal labor laws by refusing to recognize their right to union representation. The workers said they organized their boycott around Golden Week, one of the busiest weeks for Japanese tourists. "The hotel relies heavily on Japan tourism we made it clear in Japan to come to Hawaii come to the beautiful islands but don't stay at this hotel because they're a very bad employer and treat their employees very poorly," said ILWU Division Director Dave Mori. Calls made to hotel management for comment were not returned.
