Wanted Wednesday: Kelly Freeman Print E-mail

April 21, 2000. It's about 2:30 in the morning in Waianae and police say 30-year-old career criminal Kelly Freeman is looking for a car to steal. She finds one.

"The complainant hears his Honda that is parked in his driveway, the engine starts and is being driven off," said Sgt. Kim Buffett of CrimeStoppers.

An all points bulletin is put out and police pursue two Hondas at Kahe Point. They discover Freeman's boyfriend is in the first Honda. He jumps out and runs and is later arrested. Freeman gets arrested when the car she's in comes up stolen.

But that arrest wouldn't stop her. After posting bail, police say Freeman was back at it, getting stopped again near Punchbowl just over a week later.

"On April 30th, officers get a call on Pacific Heights Road in Pauoa that there's a vehicle driving recklessly," Buffett said. "They head to the area. Again stop the vehicle. The driver's in the vehicle. The male passenger flees on foot. The driver is identified as Kelly Freeman. The vehicle is stolen."

Freeman has 35 arrests and nine felony convictions.

"She's wanted for everything from drugs and theft, trespassing, again the auto thefts."

Police say Freeman was on probation at the time of the car thefts and is now wanted on two probation revocation warrants totaling $20,000.

"She has a suspended sentence, which means, if she gets arrested this time, she's probably going to do jail time. "

Freeman is described as 5-foot-3, weighing about 106 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

"She does have tattoos we don't have pictures of them, but she has a tattoo on her left hand and has Moki on her upper right leg. And unknown tattoo on her inner right ankle."

Freeman is known to frequent Honolulu, Waikiki, west Oahu and the leeward side.
