Hawaii's hotels are slightly more crowded than last year, resulting in record revenues. According to Hospitality Advisors, the first quarter room revenues statewide reached a record high of $860 million, 7.5 percent. The strong performance was driven by a 6.6 percent rise in hotel rates to $215 a night, combined with a 1.2 percent increase in occupancy. The Big Island was the lone island that didn't experience a gain in occupancy and average daily rate. Hawaii County had a 1.1 percent drop in occupancy. Maui hotels led the state with 81 percent occupancy. |
