The Tiger Woods of women's golf is calling it quits. Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam will retire after the season, ending an illustrious LPGA career that including 72 wins and 10 major championships. The 37 year old plans to announce her decision at a news conference later today at the Sybase Classic in Clifton, N.J., a source told The Associated Press. Sorenstam has hinted she may be retiring for several seasons now. Her main reason, to devote more time to her growing business and to start a family. She is engaged to Mike McGee, son of former PGA Tour player Jerry McGee. |
