Now for a segment I like to call "Misery Loves Company," in which we show you who's paying more for gas than you are! Triple-A says, as of this morning, five states have higher average prices than we do.

This is a new phenomenon. In recent years Hawaii nearly aways topped the list, with only California sometimes surpassing us. Now then: wanna compare city averages?

Every surveyed market in Alaska and California has more expensive gas than Honolulu and the four cities topping this list also top Hilo. Chicago just hit four dollar gas this morning and New York is arriving at that level today. And remember, Hawaii average driving distances are much shorter than those in these other places, so their actual fuel bills are even higher than the per gallon prices suggest.
