Hawaii scientists are celebrating the births of two more monk seals. They were born earlier this week, the 9th and 10th baby seals to be born in Hawaii this year. Compare that to 13 in all of last year. The pups come from two different mothers. On the North Shore of Oahu, one baby is a female. The other hasn't been determined yet. Both pups appear to be healthy. Scientists expects several more births in the coming months. Hawaiian monk seals are federally protected and were named Hawaii's State Mammal. |
