KGMB9 is proud to present the first ever edition with musical accompaniment of -- CRISIS AT A GLANCE!!! --- In which we run down all dire economic news from the mainland! --- consumer confidence falls to the lowest level in 28 years!!! Oil today rose to almost 128 dollars a barrel! --- Goldman Sachs predicts by the end of the summer it will hit 141 dollars a barrel!!! -- THIS JUST IN -- oil prices are rising so much, the Energy Dept says it will temporarily discontinue purchasing crude for the strategic petroleum reserves!!! -- But the big story -- or anyway the big-sounding story -- new housing construction actually ROSE in the latest monthly report!!! Unfortunately, what really happened is builders finishing some apartment buildings to keep busy -- actual single family home construction fell again!! For the 12th straight month!! So I think what we've learned today is that even bad economic news can be enjoyable when it's accompanied by music!
