
| Hawaii to Receive $6 Million in Homeland Security Grants |

Major General Robert Lee, Hawaii's Adjutant General and Director of Civil Defense, announced today that the State of Hawaii and the City & County of Honolulu have been awarded over $6 Million through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Infrastructure Protection Activities grant program. It will provides funding for the protection of critical transportation infrastructure (e.g., ports, harbors, and bus systems). State Civil Defense will administer and distribute the funds to involved agencies. DHS has allocated $4.76 million for the protection of the State's ports and harbors. Funding in the amount of $398,000 will be available to improve security systems at selected critical facilities. DHS has also allocated $843,280 for further security improvements of the City and County of Honolulu's bus transit system. |
