UNDATED (AP) - Presidential candidates are sending their best to Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, who has been hospitalized in Boston. Barack Obama says he's been in contact with Kennedy's family, and says he'll be "rooting" for the man he describes as "a giant in American political history." Earlier this year, Kennedy very publicly endorsed Obama in the Democratic race for president. Both Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton today praised Kennedy for his contributions to health care. Republican John McCain says he has the highest respect for Kennedy, describing him as a "skillful, fair and generous partner" as well as "a legendary lawmaker." A spokeswoman for Kennedy says the senator is resting comfortably after suffering a seizure at his home. She says Kennedy did not appear to have had a stroke as initially suspected. |
