UDLOW, Calif. (AP) - A charter bus crash in the Southern California desert has killed one person and injured 21 others. Tracey Martinez of the San Bernardino County Fire Department says the charter bus, based in Glendale, was heading to the gambling town of Laughlin, Nevada, when it overturned shortly before 11 a.m. Pacific time on Interstate 40, near Ludlow. That's about two hours outside of Las Vegas. A woman died when she was thrown from the bus. Martinez says eight other people had severe injuries and 13 had minor to moderate injuries. They've been taken to hospitals and the eastbound lanes of the interstate are shut down. The cause of the accident isn't known but Martinez says the bus was the only vehicle involved. |
