On Kauai our very own Keahi Tucker emceed the event along with Henry Kapono. Last years event it was pouring rain the whole time. This year walkers had to deal with the heavy VOG, but that didn't stop the people from showing up and giving back to the community. "Our goal this year was $200,000 which is far exceeding last years of $180,000. We have more walkers, we have the UH football coach, we have Keahi here," said Sandi Kato-Klutke. Participants were greeted by the Kapaa high school football team as they crossed the finish line. On Oahu Walkers started off at Ala Moana Beach Park's McCoy Pavilion and continued on a six mile trek through Waikiki finishing back at McCoy pavilion. Participants enjoyed 16 different checkpoint stations along the route where they enjoyed food and live entertainment. |
