August 17, 2002. It's around 6:15 in the morning on Henokea St. in Waipahu. Police say a neighbor spots an unwelcome 50-year-old Vera Wheaton-Stupart in their neighborhood.

"Looks out her window and sees Vera sitting in her neighbor's car," says Sgt. Kim Buffett of CrimeStoppers. "She knows that not her vehicle. Notifies the neighbor. Neighbor goes out and confronts her and detains her until police come and she's arrested for unauthorized entry into a vehicle."

But Wheaton-Stupart posts bail and just nine days later, police say she shows up inside a Waikiki home, surprising a woman who had been out watering the yard.

"She's out there for about 45 minutes and returns and notices there are slippers at the front door," Buffett says. "Police come and they do a search and they find Vera sleeping in one of the bedrooms on the second floor. She has changed her clothes, put on the complainant's clothes now and just relaxing. (Upon) further checks it's found she's eaten, the microwave was used. So she in 45 minutes has made herself at home in this woman's house."

Police say they also found with the victim's wallet and credit cards inside her bag. Wheaton-Stupart, who has 19 convictions, was on probation at the time. She would eventually be convicted of the crime but failed to show up in court for sentencing and probation revocation. And now Wheaton-Stupart is wanted on four felony contempt warrants totaling $60,000.

She's described as 5-foot-5, 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Wheaton-Stupart is known to hang out in the Leeward and Waipahu areas.
