Bring your pets indoors well in advance. Animals often get scared and can run away during severe weather. Prepare sturdy, spill proof containers for food and water. You'll need a few days supply of non-spoiling pet food. Also, create a safe indoor area for your pet. If they gets scared, put them inside a crate to make sure they can't run away. Lastly, if you evacuate and you can't make alternate arrangements, take them with you. Remember, most shelters will not allow your pets inside. So if you have to bring its crate and leave it in the car. Park in the shade and roll down a window. |
