Nothing is settled, but the initial talks between the University of Hawaii and June Jones have begun. Wednesday marked the first meeting. This was the pre-mediation session that sets the rules for resolving the salary dispute. The mediation starts on June 9th and will be run by local attorney Clyde Matsui. Both Jones and UH agreed to this option before taking things to an arbitrator. The school is asking the former Warrior football coach to pay $408,000 or half his annual salary for leaving six months before his contract expired. Jones says he had an agreement with former UH AD Herman Frazier to leave without penalty.
