The $2.5 million feature (which airs at 6 and 10 tonight on the sci fi channel was shot by Hawaii Cinematographer Paul Atkins in just two and a half weeks at Kualoa Ranch. "We're very proud that we were able to shoot this completely in Hawaii. That's our main thing. And it's an entertaining film. It's not a heavy piece. It's just entertainment. You got aliens taking over in an island setting with bikini girls. It's your typical sci fi channel movie," Jason Lau. "Heatstroke" is no masterpiece, but for its genre, it's very well done. "It shows people what we can and can't do. It gives us a success we need. It's been a great project, but it's a stepping stone to maybe something bigger and better," said June Lau. Talkstory's ultimate goal is to do 100% local productions telling 100% local stories. The company is planning 13 half hour shows that will air late next year on local network television in prime time. "It will give local people a chance to really show off their stuff and that's what we want. Show off your stuff here. and show what we can really do here creatively," said Lau. |
