Kamehameha was a great king loved by his people. "He was a hard working alii. He was out among his people working and doing. He didn't just sit around ordering others around." The story illustrates his love for his people. A large number of coconuts needed to be taken from Puako to Waimea on Hawaii island for the blessing of a heiau there. The people were weary from the hard work. We hope this helps you think of Kamehameha Day as much more than a holiday, but a day to remember arguably Hawaii's most humble and greatest king. |
